This is my sixth year teaching! Wow! Time flies!! I taught Pre-K for two years, 4th grade for two years, and now this is my second year in first grade. I love it! I have the best class at Vansville Elementary! We love to sing and dance while we learn! Above all, we like to have fun! We work hard and always do our best! We all are ROCK STARS!!!

Ms. Kountz's Classroom Expectations

1. Interact with each other in a respectful manner.

2. Follow all class rules.

3. Work cooperatively while making new friends.

5. Have FUN while learning-develop an excitement for school and learning.

My Philosophy of Teaching:

I feel one of the most important things at this age is to develop a love for school and learning! I think it is SO important for my students to want to come to school each day. I also feel that it is very important for them to be engaged and stay engaged while learning. I try to make the learning process as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. In my classroom we sing and dance and have fun as much as possible. We all use funny voices and do as many hands on activities as possible. I am set my expectations high for my students and work with them to meet each one. I expect nothing but respect in my classroom. I want to inspire and encourage each student in my classroom through positive praise. I want to be a good role model and help foster self respect in each of my students.

With out support from parents, our students can only go so far! I believe that there needs to be constant communication between the teacher and parents. I welcome parents to come into our room as much as possible! I think it's very important for the students to see the close connection of their parents and their teacher. I think this not only helps with behavior issues, but it shows that all of these people who are working together truly care about them. I think strong parent/teacher connections help reinforce everything taught at school. A tight bond between parent and teacher can only help a child learn!
